 STEP 1: FEATHERS
Grab your go to collection of fancy feathers and set up the colors which you'd like to focus on.
It's important to have a color theme for your new headdress as it's going to be seen by the world.
Local places to buy feathers are Mendels (Haight st. open 10-6)
and then at Cliff's Variety Store in the Castro.
Those two places are the best bang for your creative dollar.
STEP 2: CREATING YOUR BASE
You can use old clothing such as JEANS to save a little and get some use out of something
that would have other wise been kept locked in the closet to forget about.
 STEP 3: CUT OUTS
WIDTH: Cut out a swatch long enough for your head to be happy.
LENGTH: 5-7" depending on how long of a front you'd like
Mine are usually 11"x6"

STEP 4: GLUE THE FEATHERS
Glue the feathers to the top half of the fabric swatch and fold over
the fabric to create the FOLD POCKET which becomes the front piece

STEP 5: LET DRY
Place heavy objects such as large books to weigh down the headdress as it sets and dries.

STEP 6: SEW TIES
(not shown but you can visualize)
Buy string, or re use any sort of material you'd like to use to as a tie and sew to both sides of the head piece. I use material that is about 1" thick and that can hold up to plenty of use.

STEP 7: WEAR WITH PRIDE
